I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert when it comes
to computers but as with almost anything, you learn by doing,
many times from necessity.  It helps to have someone around who
has had some similar experience with whatever you are attempting.

Through my work, in classes at school, and at home as I purchased
my own systems and became familiar with them, I found so much
enjoyment from the capabilities presented by computers.
As technology improves, the possibilities are limitless.

Aside from making my life easier with spreadsheets, word processing
software, presentation software, and other tools, computer technology
has given us the world wide web which you can use to do some or all of
your shopping, your banking and bill payments, research for any
purpose, and a wonderful communication tool.

I have learned so much more about my health problems from online
support groups and have made some wonderful friends across the
world with whom I have interests in common.  The internet is my
window to the world and I love my computer for all the things it can
do for me.

When I first entered the work world, most office duties were done
manually and then we had keypunch operators to key certain data
onto cards which were then fed into a computer.

A few years later, we had CRT's on our desks that we could use for
viewing only, then later came the spreadsheets and the word
processing software.  It just kept getting better so eventually we
could even input our own data into our own terminals on our desks.

When the PC came into being, things really took off into things beyond
our imagination.   And God bless Microsoft who gave us Windows; that
really made a difference in computing.

Who would have thought a few years ago that almost
everyone would have their own PC at home;  when that was first
suggested, I couldn't imagine why I would want one.  Now it's like
my very heartbeat; I couldn't imagine living without it.   Now that
we have laptops, we can take our computers wherever we go.

Computers and Technology

My first home computer did not even have a hard drive.
Everything had to be saved on a floppy disk.

In 1999 when I bought a Gateway system with several periphials,
that's when I really became a computer lover.   Many of the things
I've learned came about by necessity for work or school; others
I  picked up just because I was interested and kept trying until
I figured them out.   It also helps to have someone around
when I need to ask a question.

As I became acquainted with email and made a number of online friends,
I saw that many of them had their own websites to share pictures,  items
of common interest, or information about whatever affected their lives.

I decided that I would try to make my own so one thing led to another
and my website was born.   Working on these pages have given me many
hours of delight.   I feel like I'm getting in touch with a creative side.

Early in 2006 I purchased a Dell laptop along with some other
hardware and software.   I still have the Gateway desktop.

I always say that I am not a computer geek; I am an addict!
I couldn't thing of a nicer or more beneficial addiction.
