My great grandpa Smith, who died before I was born, was Irish;
I was told that he had a heavy Irish brogue.
It was his grandpa who moved to the U.S. from Ireland.

I think many people claim to be Irish on St. Patrick's Day!
Below are some Irish poems, blessings, and sayings.
ENJOY!

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind always be at your back,
May the sunshine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields.

Dance as if no one were watching,
Sing as if no one were listening,
And live every day as if it were your last

These things I warmly wish to you-
Someone to love, Some work to do
A bit o' sun, A bit o' cheer
And a guardian angel always near.
Irish Friendship Wish

May there always be work for your hands to do,
May your purse always hold a coin or two,
May the sun always shine on your windowpane,
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;
May the hand of a friend always be near you;
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
It's a good day to be Irish,
It's a good day to play.
The leprechauns are dancing,
And celebrating with the fair folk.

It's a good day to be Irish,
A good day to wear green.
Be proud of your Irish blood,
And celebrate today.

Sending a bit of Irish luck
with shamrocks of green
May you continue to prosper
and follow your every dream

Sharing a bit of happiness
and lots of laughter too
A little luck of the Irish
is what I'm sending you

Happy St. Pat's Day!

May your children grow up strong,
May their hearts be ever true,
May your life be happily long,
With your loved ones near to you.

May your nights be blessed with rest,
May your days be blessed with sun,
May your friends be just the best,
And fill your life with fun.

May you never see the moon rise
Holding anger in your heart,
And may you ever see the sunrise
As a bright and shining start.

May you always have what you need,
And sometimes have what you want,
And may you be so wise indeed,
As to know the things you don’t.

May You Always

May you always have true blessings
With an Angel by your side

On this St. Patrick's Day...

Song of Ireland

Sing a song of Ireland,
And the wearin’ of the green.
Tell me tales of faeries,
And their woodlands so serene.

Croon an Irish lullaby,
To kiss my ears in sleep.
Wrap me in fine, Irish lace,
Place shamrocks 'round my feet.

Shower me with sea spray,
As I stand upon her cliffs.
Blow my hair about my face,
Let me hear a siren’s riff.

Let me smell the cherished heather,
Let me kiss the blarney stone,
Give me dreams of grandeur,
From a simple country home.

Let me cherish friends and family,
Let me sing though my heart be broken,
Let me smile a smile of angels,
Let me hear the brogue be spoken.

Whisper words upon the wind;
That give hope at each day’s start.
Give me tea to warm my bones at night,
And love to warm my heart.

Yes, sing a song of Erin,
Sing it low and soft and sweet.
Then sing it loud and boisterous,
Filled with joy for life complete.

Lyrics to Background Music:

Grace

As we gather in the chapel here in old Kilmainham Jail
I think about the last few weeks: Oh will they say we’ve failed
From our schooldays they have told us we must yearn for liberty
Yet all I want in this dark place is to have you here with me.

Chorus:
Oh Grace just hold me in your arms and let this moment linger
They take me out at dawn and I will die
With all my love I place this wedding ring upon your finger
There won’t be time to share our love for we must say goodbye

Now I know it’s hard for you, my love, to ever understand
The love I bear for these brave men, my love for this dear land
But when Padraic called me to his side down in the G.P.O.
I had to leave my own sick bed, to him I had to go

Chorus

Now as the dawn is breaking, my heart is breaking too
On this May morn as I walk out my thoughts will be of you
And I’ll write some words upon the walls so everyone will know
I loved you so much that I could see his blood upon the rose.

Chorus x 2
