I mentioned that I married at a very young age and started having
children so I did not have a college education until later.

I really had didn't know what kind of work I wanted to do.
What I did know is that I was pretty good in bookkeeping/accounting in
high school and liked this field as well.  A few months after my second
child was born, I went to see an employment agency and ended up with
a job in accounts payable.   For the next twelve years
or so, I had several jobs in or near my home town in South Carolina,
most of them related to some area of clerical accounting.

In late 1981 I moved to Illinois with my family.  After a few months of
working for a very good company and taking some accounting classes, I
secured another job that allowed me to do more of the
actual accounting "meat."   I wasn't happy with this company though
so I left there in 1987 and started looking elsewhere.

When I sought Robert Half's assistance in my job search, they
suggested that I also sign up with their temporary division,
Accountemps so that way I could keep up my job skills and also
would not feel pressure to take the first permanent job offer that came
along.  Not long afterward Accountemps called to ask me if
I would take a three to six week position in a certain town.
I had to ask "Where is this town?"

I started as a helper in the billing area, then was moved to
accounts payable when one of the girls was out due to an injury.
The controller asked me if I was interested in a permanent job in
accounts payable and I told him "No, I really don't want a job in accounts
payable and this is too far for me to drive."   A few weeks
later he approached me again with a job offer and this time
I accepted since I was able to do a variety of functions and had
found out it was a good company with good pay and benefits.

As I finished my bachelor's degree in accounting and passed
the CPA exam, then went to graduate school where I earned
an MBA in finance, I was given more and more responsibility as
well as a couple of promotions.   In the last few years, I've had a number
of challenges which seemed to work out well with the
help of some very good management.

I enjoyed my job very much; I like analyzing and
interpreting figures as well as working with people,
additionally I enjoyed the projects and the planning as our
needs changed and expanded.

I was in charge of the payroll function, accounting for the
payroll and employee benefits, helping with the administration
of our 401 (K) plan, the tax and regulatory filings for payroll
and benefits, and the related audits, as well as helping
with financial statements and audits.  In 2003
I helped to implement a new software management system.
My job required many hours of my time, so it's a good
thing that I liked it.

In 2008 I moved to North Carolina, which necessitated my leaving
Formax and going to work for another employer, Umicore USA Inc., in
the Human Resources Department.   At Umicore, my job was very
similar.  I was responsible for the administration of the retirement plan,
management of the payroll area, and assisting with benefits
management.  I left Umicore in June 2011.

At present I am in transition and looking for my next success.
