SNOW SCENES
FEBRUARY 2010

     Raleigh doesn't get
     snow often, the first
     winter I was here,
     it only snowed once.
     This winter it has
     snowed twice.

I do hope this is it; I've seen enough snow
the years I lived in Illinois to last me a lifetime.
The worst storm so far this
    winter started the evening of
January 31, 2010 and kept on all
night.  It was a   mixture of
    snow, sleet, and freezing rain,
    about five or six inches
    altogether.  The bad thing
about this storm was that it was
so icy, not the kind of weather
you can drive in, no matter
where you live.  I did not take all
    these picture, borrowed some
    from other people.
Look at the road to the
    right.  It looks very icy
    even in the picture.
I really have no idea why
    the deer seem to come
    out more when it snows.
    Below is a holly bush.
    Many people in Raleigh
    haven't seen much snow so
they enjoy it when it does
    come.  Both children and
adults like to get outside with
    their sleds.  Personally I'd
    rather be inside near the
    fireplace.
The snow that came during the night
on February 12 and early morning
February 13 was the soft powdery
kind.  It snowed about 3 inches but
did not stick to the pavement.  Most
of it had melted by the end of the
day.  I took these pictures from the
    front door.
    I forgot to cover the
    patio furniture.  Oh
    well!  It's supposed to
    be waterproof.
You can see a bit of
    Misty on the patio.
    She refuses to go
    into the yard, doesn't
    want to get her feet
    cold and wet.
Look at me, Mom!
