I was born in Greenville and grew up in nearby Easley, in the rolling piedmont section of South Carolina at the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, part of the Appalachian Mountain chain. I was the youngest of three children, but my brother and sister were much older. They were out on their own when I was still very young so it seemed like I was an only child. |

| The Great Smokey Mountains are a short drive away from my original SC home. |
I had wonderful Christian parents who practiced old fashioned standards and enjoyed the simple things in life. Dad worked long hours and Mom stayed at home running the house and taking good care of everyone At the age of eight, I remember very clearly the Lord dealing with me about my salvation. One evening I went to my mom and told her that I wanted to get saved. We knelt by my bed and I asked Jesus to come into my heart. When I say that I am a Christian, I do not mean that I am religious and I am not bragging. I am a sinner saved by grace; salvation is a free gift to all those who will receive it. I am certainly not perfect by any means. Walking with the Lord and having Him to depend on means so much; family and friends may disappoint you, but the Lord will always be there. |

| I lived in the Chicago surburbs for 27 years. I liked living close to a large city; Chicago is a wonderful place. The main thing I didn't like is the cold weather. |

| I loved getting back to my Southern roots and many things I remember from my childhood like red clay, mimosa trees, azaleas, a warmer climate, and all things Southern. |
| Now I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. It has many qualities like the place where I grew up, except the city here is quite a bit larger. |
